I got my son into Rippingtons back in the early 2000's, and he's loved the band ever since.

He was bored this past weekend and decided to do an acoustic solo cover.

He recorded this with his iphone 10.

    Very nice!

I love Russ Freeman's work with the Ripps. I have several of their albums.

One of the really good smooth jazz bands still around.

    Thanks Derek.

I turned my son onto the Rippingtons back in the early 2000's, and he's been a big fan ever since.

I don't know if they're still touring, but I'd love to catch them in concert .

That would be pretty special for my son and I to be able to see them live.

Other than this current situation, yes I think they are.

They came out with a new album last year and toured in support of it, I believe.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I just assumed they were retired.

We may have to take an out of state trip to see them, but we'll just make a vacation out of it.

It'll be worth it for sure.

    Thanks.

Can you believe that that little scaled down Dred had that tone?

It really surprised me for sure.

I was introduced to the Rippingtons in the early 90's. Live in LA is one of my favorite recordings. I saw them at HOB in Orlando mid 90's. I just saw them this tour in Melbourne, Fl at a private event. Maybe 80 people if that. My favorite band in that genre. The Live in LA band was my favorite.

    Nice job on this!

    Thanks Dickie.

Live in LA is one of our favorites as well.

My son has a Killer a Martin Logan system, and he cranks Live in LA through it.

At times you swear the band was right there playing live.

It took my son a while to get that solo down, even though he's heard it a thousand times.

He says Russ's leads can be very challenging.

Your son did a really nice job with this solo. I always thought Russ was one of the underrated great as he was able to create really compelling solos.
I remember seeing the Rippingtons in San Jose when Tourist in Paradise released. He was playing through a Boogie mark 2C with 2 1 x 12 cabs
the typical refrigerator rack. The band really brought their A-game that night.

Anyway, glad to see your son carries on your passion for music.

    Thanks Ion.

My son knows ALL the Rippingtons music.

He has them as one of the mainstays on his Spotify music.

I turned him onto them when he was about 12 or so, and he's been an avid fan since then.

Now we just have to find a concert here in Texas.

I don't know if they venture down here, but with all the Covid and all, it could be a while before that ever happens.

Very nice! I'm surprised how little Russ Freeman is talked about here on TGP. I've been a big fan for decades. Saw then open for Larry Carlton (many years ago) and at a small venue in a casino here in Vegas last year. Incredible musicians and great song writing.

Kudos to you! If you can cover Russ, what else do you do?
