This is a forum. People post their opinions. Just because people don't agree with your opinion isn't grounds for getting sarcastic.

pretty underwhelming is what my ears are telling me after that. raspy and buzzy tones even though it was a mic`ed recording. Gotta admit those tones moved me not one bit and Im as big a Les Paul fan as you will find.

Neither of the Venus demos on the Rivera site really impressed me much, but they did make me appreciate my SpiVa more!! :hide

I like Riveras and have owned several over the years. That clip did not get me excited to try the Venus, but there is one thing to consider. That guy had it dialed in how he liked it, but the controls on those amps are usually very responsive. While I agree with jlagrassa about it sounding kind of fuzzy in this instance, my guess is that you could change that.

yep...and a million knobs to dial it out so say the followers...neither me or my fellow Gear Page buddy could dial it out and whatsmore...we could not get a balance between treble and wound strings that was pleasing on any of the Riveras we demoed...when we'd get the bass stings nice and articulate the treble strings were piercingly painful...get the treble strings sounding sweet and the bass strings were muddy...

used a 335 and a GVCG pine tele that doesn't exhibit those characteristics on any other amps we've tried it through...mystery to me...I just don't get those amps as I had high expecations...

maybe it was just the stock Celestion V30/G12H30 that came in those amps...

thanx for settin me straight GT...I really wanted to like those amps and perhaps with some speaker tweaks I could get em to work for me...

I am still curious as to why they chose the speaks they did for those amps as those are among my least favorite speakers...
