RNC Questions

Some dumb ones.

1) RNC is supposed to be used with balanced ear only? I use a presonus firepod... is this balanced gear? Also what kind of cables to I need. Just standard 1/4" patch cables (like for effects) or something special.

2) This is a stereo compressor. But there is only one set of controls. I assume that if I use this for acoustic guitar (mic one) and voice (mic 2) that I would need to different "settings". Does this mean I really need two RNC's?

1. Actually, according to the manual and website info, the RNC uses specifically 'unbalanced' connections, so your regular patch type cables will work.

2. It is stereo in that there are two seperated inputs and outputs but the single set of controls affect both channels. So, if you wanted different settings, then yes, you would need another compressor.

1) I use it with my Firestudio and it works great.

2) Yes, you would need two comps if you wanted to 2 independent controls.

It is a great comp and I wouldn't hesitate having 2 if I needed independent controls.

One of the worst mistakes you can make in any home studio is to buy two of anything. You already have an RNC. You know what that sounds like. Try a different compressor so you have options.

ART ProVLA is a very nice complement to the RNC, as far as budget boxes go.

For that matter, if you want a leveling amp, you can get the FMR RNLA.
