I was watching this video and I can't quite make out what Robben's amp is, looks like a Bassman head/cab combo, anyone know?

Probably the one (?) that inspired a certain someone to build a certain amp, that since have become the most famous amp - ever! :)

Was known to play a Bassman head/cab early on.

The Bassman that RF was playing that inspired HAD to make the ODS was a Blonde one.

Whatever is to the right of screen looks Silverface, not Blonde to me.

I guess maybe I'm a simpleton perhaps but did RF's lead make any sense for that song?

    I agree.

I love Robben's playing, but that was forcing a square peg. That didn't serve the song, at least not to me. Kinda ruined the mood of the song.

I'm a massive RF fan, but yes I would agree with that statement.

He's really, really young there though let's not forget.

Man, I love Jimmy Witherspoons voice. I first heard Robben Ford on a JW album and was quite taken with how different he sounded from the usual blues guitarists.

Yep, I'd be happy to be able to play like that now, let alone at 21 or so.

the band was really crappy, including the guitarist...JW was alright, eric burdon singing the blues just didn't cut it...the first two groups were dan hicks and kaleidoscope - when the headliner was not as good, we just bailed...this was the san diego state gymnasium, LOL
