JGT: "Robben showed up with a 1959 Les Paul Gold Top with P-90’s and a trapeze tailpiece."

    Really?

Maybe it was a 52 and they just quoted him wrong?

My point exactly. The details matter. That something this important is so completely and obviously wrong casts a serious shadow on the authenticity of everything else about the piece.

Little Walter amps look killer and sound great in the clips....and the list of musicians that play them has always been impressive. I've just never had a chance to play one. From what I can tell up here in the cheap seats they appear to be super high end "touring" amps. No frills, but lots of substance.

I get all of that, and I'm OK with it.

My reaction is more cynical: I expect the endorsement is not nearly as personal as it's depicted in the original piece and is, more likely, just another paid artist endorsement, a long and common industry practice.

    Relax, it really isn't important.

Chill if you must, but BS is BS, and tiresome.

Robben is playing at the Little Walter jam during NAMM, so one must assume he has one and likes it enough to lend his name and prestige to it.

Is he? Have you seen a little walter? Looks like a guy makes them in his garage. I don't see someone like that putting out big bucks for endorsements...…..

Also, it's not like Robben is known for being an endorsement slut like certain other players.

Now now, we all know its not so important to be factually correct these days, as long as you're morally correct..

So he gave up Dumble for bucks from a small time builder.... Seems whack to me but i guess if youre hard up for bucks anything goes. Sad if its true. Shouldnt he be getting social security by now?

I dont follow RF that closely but it seems like he has evolved away from the jazz rock dumble thing to a gritier straight up blues style. I suspect the thicker dumble tone gets in the way if that. I know it would annoy me after awhile. Yeah i just slagged dumble. When you got solid chops a basic tone is the most transparent. I know nothing about little walter amps but i like little walters tunes.
