Warren played some very tasty solos in the studio but live it was too much dwiddlee dwiddlee for me... he lost all that great phrasing.
    Robbin...great songwriter.

My goodness. That's a venue I haven't thought about in years, and it's all renovated (and renamed) now.

    Ratt {1984}

On the show performance's during 1984.

Ratt was 'hit-and-miss'. Sometimes they just played so loud that everything came
out distorted or garbled, with the Amps reverberating.

Stephen on vocals was either 'average' or just plain off. Sometimes he sounded like
he just took a hit of Helium.

It sure sounded like the Sound Engineer was trying to cover the 'weak' vocals.

The show on 'Pier 84' in New York City was 'average' at best.

Great thread!! I was a teenager back then and loved Ratt. Still listen to them regularly.

Around 1991 or so I walked into a 7-11 in Hollywood and was waiting in line to buy something. Robbin walks in wearing a black leather jacket. He's pretty recognizable to a fan like me. Of course, being cool, I acted like I didn't notice. (I would have loved to chat with him.....I really regret passing on the opportunity now). He was behind me talking to someone about how they had just returned from a tour of Japan.

I wonder if it was the tour in which they got Michael Schenker to replace him on some gigs.

    That would be February 1991.

Ratt had a short tour in Japan.

    Osaka, Japan

Robbin was a 'full-blown' Heroin Addict at the time.

Yes - his addiction was in full swing by that time; he would be out of the band a short time later.

In the Behind The Music interviews and already diagnosed with AIDS, Robbin stated "don't mourn for me. I lived the life only a few can say they have, I sold out MSG when I was 25(?)" or words to that effect. It's a shame what happened but that star burned bright for many years and left us - the fans - with some great music.

...and Schenker came back later when the band reformed for some shows as well?

I'll let Kallie answer that one.
I saw Ratt & Extreme back in '08 and Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot) was playing with them - not sure if he's still on board but I gotta say, he did an outstanding job.

I don't know the whole chronology of events, but I'm pretty sure Michael Schenker has done plenty of battle with heroin addiction too. Seems an ironic choice for replacing a guy with a heroin addiction.

Didn't Schenker replace Crosby for Ratt's Unplugged taping, as well?

Ratt played a '10-Song' 45-Minute Show. They were very good.

Robbin Crosby was steady, but nothing special, other than being a huge mammoth
    on stage.

During "Back For More' > Warren DeMartini added in some fantastic Peter Frampton 'kick jams' from "Do You Feel Like I Do"

After the show, Robbin Crosby and Nikki Sixx went into a 'Drug Swirl' at the Hotel
    with several 'low-rent' trashy-sluts.

    Ratt {1984}

Robbin was the 'King' of Ratt. He was basically the leader, along with Stephen Pearcy.

But, it was clear that Warren DeMartini was the better Guitarist.

It is about as much as image as anything else. You have to have the attitude. You have to
be on the Magazine Covers. You must have an image.

The same thing with the interviews on TV {MTV}. I have to fashion it up. Nobody wants
to see a gruffy guy in Jeans and a Tee-shirt talking about getting down into heavy blues to
    feel something.

Damn, we spend about $3000 on our outfits for each Tour. You have to display the 'garb'
so your fans can identify with you. It's as much of a show than anything else. It's like being
a Superhero character. Your fans want to see dressed up all of the time.
