I'm awaiting delivery on one of these; picked it up on eBay, as it looked
interesting, but I've never heard of them.

    Anybody ?

There was a Guy on The Musictoyz forum a couple of years back looking for one. I guess He had one and tried to mod it and couldn't figure out how to get it to work. He was trying to find Someone who would take a picture of one so He could put it back stock. That's the only other time I've heard of them.

    Thanks, for that ..

I just noticed that there is a sticker on the back that says they were(?)
distributed by Fat Sound guitars(NC), so I'll shoot Stu an email and see
what he can tell me .

I'm guessing it might be TS-based w/ the ability to shift the mid-emphasis
    around from lo[mid] to hi[mid] ?

Maybe, maybe, not- that's just a wild guess, as it might not even use IC's

I think it's transistor based, has silicon and germanium in different combinations on the selector switch. Can do boost, overdrive and more aggressive sounds.

They were made for/sold by Fat Sound Guitars if I remember. Call Stu, he'll give you the lowdown.

Had two over the years and both were very hard to find. At the time they just weren't what I was looking for and I have no idea what was going on under the hood. I thought I read that Fat Sound was going to bring them back but I don't remember where.

    What's going rate on these?

To be honest, I don't. I don't think it generated a whole lot of gain on its own and would probably be great with an amp that was close to or breaking up naturally. Again, Stu would be the best source of info. I called him when I was curious about it and he gladly gave me the whole story.

Ive had a few these over the years still have an early one... its basically a Dist+ with a diode selector (Germ/Sili/none) its good for lower drive and especially good as a pre drive for another dirt box or a clean slightly dirty boost .....
there were about 150 of them made and Roger moved out to Colorado and disappeared.....:hiP

Thanks, for that, DonneR; sounds like there's some potential there.

I'll just have to see how it sounds when it arrives.:munch

    Your welcome ..
Yeah basically the left knob is volume and the right knob is dirt level
The middle knob is a rotary that clicks between 5 different settings...
The left one breaks up the easiest over to the right one which doesnt break up much - more of a clean boost ...
But its cool you can pick which setting of break up you like ...
I think they didnt originally have AC taps but Ive had a couple that I added them too....

At one point I was thinkng of resurrecting them since Roger disappeared.....
or would make a cool BYOC kit maybe ---

anyway enjoy it - its one of the early Boutique boxes from '96 and I think the boxes were done by Darren who did the CJODs and now Landys and Sweets and many others:AOK over the years....
