I recently asked Doug to do a couple of mods to my beloved C40...

    1. Added switchable SS recto...
    2. Sweetened up the voicing by taking just a bit of the high end off

Amp came back sounding better than ever...really happy with the results...SS recto firmed up the low end even more, improved response and head room exactly as Doug had described and high end is much sweeter...WOW!

Thanks Doug for your professionalism and skill in building an absolute tone beast!!

One of these days I will own a Roccaforte, and it's the C40 I'd want. Seems like a great RnR amp! Glad you are happy with yours!

Wow. My Custom 40 already has a low end that will eliminate cockroaches and spiders from the house. That must be, as you say, a real tone monster!

I can imagine how great those mods sound - congrats.

Does the SS rectifier tighten up the low end somewhat? I have a C40 myself and have been looking for comments about the SS rectifier. I'm not looking for more low end, just a bit sharper/more percussive attack.

Yeah, I have always been impressed with Doug's amps, especially the worksmanship. I am definitely on a path to own one someday.

I should have mentioned in my previous post that I too am very impressed with the construction of Doug's amps. Sounds fantastic too!

Absolutely, the neatest point to point wiring out there! Love the brushed metal logo and super classy style! Simple, distinguished, nothing flashy, just very classic. Looks/sounds great!

    Thanks!
Actually, the logo is lazer cut stainless steel,
and then they weld mounting studs,
then it gets ran over by a belt sander!
The vents, and control panel are also stainless steel.

    So question,
Is there any difference between having the SS/Tube recto mod done and just inserting a SS plug in the socket?

How does one compensate for a rise in the voltage[?] from a SS plug.

    Thanks, M.E.

One day, I too will own a Rocca!
