Rocket Animal vs. Flex Drive

I really liked my Animal but sold it due to me not needing 'that Plexi tone'. What I really liked was its low gain character: I could dial in an open, raw tone without the unpleasantly fuzzy grain kicking in too early, unlike so many other ODs: boost, ugly grain, more ugly grain and at mid level the grain starts to sound more like natural gain...the Animal does that more organic. But I found it to be limited to a mid-honky tone...would the Flex Drive give me that same organic feel with the ability to dial in a different tonal voicing? Led Boots? Tim Pearce?

Not sure about the Flex Drive but I just got a Blue Note and it is awesome. I had an Animal years ago and know what you mean; the Blue Note can get you there with the Hot switch on.

Yeah! The Blue Note seems to get a lot of love; it is probably the ticket for low gain and closest to the animal. Tried it once, liked it. Somewhat distinctively 'bluesy'. Wonder if the Flex would get me to Blue Note/Animal with more versatility.
