Rockman in stompbox format

I'm surprised that the Rockman was never built in an actual stompbox. It isn't a sound that I'd want full time, but it sure would be a cool flavor to be able to kick on every once in a while. Has any one rigged up an original on their pedal board - maybe in a true bypass loop?

The "Rockman" sound is the OD, with EQing applied, and then compression and often reverb and chorus, all at the same time. I'm not sure I'd know where to put a pedal with all that going on in my signal chain! Is there a certain part of the sound you want (OD + EQing?) or all of it? Cool idea if you want that tone.

If it's for short passes, I'd use a compressed higher gain pedal, notch a wah pedal (to simulate the EQing) and add reverb and chorus if you're going all out!

Thx for the info guys. I had no idea that Scholz did a pedal. I liked that the Rockman had compression, chorus, echo, and distortion all together in one package. It definitely had a unique "mixed in a studio" sound to it.

A high-gain distortion with the bass rolled back into an EQ with the 800Hz slider boosted 6 to 8 dB will get you a poor man's version of that tone in a pinch. If you're going to buy one of the old Rockman units, whether box or rack, make sure to get the refurbishing done on it. There are several guys out there now who refurb Scholz's stuff, and it's like hitting the 'reset' button on their wear n' tear.

Many years ago a 3rd party rigged up a 6 ft switch controller that a Rockman fit into and attaches with a proprietary plug, gave you independent access to all features (more than you even had from the unit itself) and full stereo out. I had one, it worked great, eventually I moved on, no recollection of who did this. Was called the Rockbox, see it here:
