This guitar from MF is unbelievable. Sounds 90% like my martin, has good action and a straight neck and stays in tune.

Unbelievable deal. This is the guitar I'm going to keep out in the front room and haul around in the car.

Don't you love finding a cheap guitar that sounds and plays great? No worries about banging it up or not taking it out.... 39 bucks sounds like a sweet deal though.... that's like a 10 pack of strings :)

I'd buy more, but I can't imagine they'd be as perfect as this one!!

If I thought the $180 guitar were even 5% better than the $39 guitar, I'd be all over it.

It's true, at least to an extent. I played about 6 or 7 of them because i had played one that amazed me. They all sucked but that one. Somehow some of those rouges were really stupid good. The catch tho, which is common with cheapies, was that if you finger picked it or strummed it lightly is when it sounded great. Strum hard and it just broke up badly. But i swear, played any other way then hard it sounded as good as many guitars in the $1000 and over category. As good as most acoustics i've owned including some expensive ones. It was truly incredible. But strum it hard and it showed it's true $79 colors. (i think thats what they cost at the time)

Like saying a Yugo is the same as a Mercedes because they both have four wheels. I suppose it takes time to develop a discriminating ear.

Have you heard the particular guitar in question? Sometimes there are some real gems in the bargain bin.

I always love this statement... so silly.

Yes, he got a guitar as he paid for a guitar... Had he received an inflatable raft instead it would be far more interesting LOL.

BUT your comment is 100% not true as he stated- he paid for a cheap POS guitar and got one he likes and can play, enjoy, and schelp around without concern. Sounds like a hell of a deal.

I helped a friends wife pick out a cheap starter guitar for him last xmas. I was surprised to find one for under 200 that was very nice sounding and playing and to this day still plays great and stays in tune. Right out of the box.

Cheap guitars have gotten far better over the years than they used to be IMHO.

Acoustic guitar BARGAINS are good guitars at good prices. I'm glad the OP thought he'd gotten a bargain, but I doubt that he really did. Sure, there's a market for cheap guitar shaped objects, and they all end up under someone's bed after a few weeks.

Not always ... but it's a sure thing that you rarely get MORE than what you paid for.
