You are a masochistic bunch aren't you .
Did you receive your set yet? =)
Lets hear about some of these recent shipments!
i just got my 60t bridge/Tall neck set. Outrageously good!! i have a Broadcaster/Tall set already. The 60t is what I've been searching for, for quite some time. In my Alder/Rosewood Senn I now have that quintessential 60's tele sound and through my Twin Reverb it really nails that early Pete Anderson/Dwight Yoakum sound. Awesome pickups!!
Can you explain the differences? And are the 60t staggered?
they are staggered, white cloth. Very twangy, great Bakersfield sound.
Here's what they sound like
Is there a website for Ron Ellis Pickups?
i like the sound of those
I'll be getting a 50/60s Strat set today. I had it sent to a friend in Hong Kong and he's bringing it today to Bangkok so I don't have to worry about the cesspit of corruption and theft that is the postal/customs system here. It took 15 months. I didn't have much of a problem with that since I knew it going in. But what I don't get is why they don't simply communicate the waiting time as it is. It seems that more recently (after I placed my order in May 2013) they started quoting shorter times, and then again not delivering on them. Why not avoid a lot of stress on themselves and irate customers by stating wait times as they are?
I agree. It seems that most of the guitar industry operates in the same manner.
I ordered and received a set of 50/60 pickups from Ron and there was no problem whatsoever. He always answered my emails promptly and was totally courteous. As far as paying upfront...that is not a big deal to me. Sure there is some chance of getting screwed if you pay for something upfront but after a few emails with Ron I knew it wasn't going to be problem and it wasn't. As far as the wait is concerned, I view this as an artisanally made product and those always take time. I would rather wait and have Ron personally make and wind my pickups rather than receiving them faster from an assembly line.
Don't let the price or time it takes for Ron to make the pickups stop you from getting a set.
What kind of stagger do the 50/60's have?
Did you receive your single coils?
I ordered my 50/60 w/hot bridge set in June 2013. Hoping I will hear something soon. Looks like people who ordered around the time I did are starting to get their pickups.
Not yet - but I told him to just send the HB and single coil sets together. I think you are right - people are getting them now who ordered around our time..
Without having read this whole thread, has anyone paid around April and received their pickups yet? I did and I haven't heard a peep and neither Ron or Lisa are responding to emails I have sent over the last couple of weeks. Should I be worried?
When was the last time you tried? Might want to try him again if it has been awhile. His pattern seems to be he goes awhile without responding (I think it is these periods that he does the making and goes to his day job) and then he comes up for air and responds to a bunch at once. At least thats the way it looks.
