I really wanted a Tele with a bender. So I asked RK to make it for me. It arrived yesterday and there really are no words to describe how great this instrument is.

Not only is it exactly what I wanted, it is also a work of art, it feels solid as a rock and plays like butter, and it sounds like the best growly, twangy thing ever. Now I just need some bender chops to go with it.

I took some pics but I'm no photographer...

Needless to say I am happy. And if anyone is thinking about having Ron build a guitar for them, do it.

    Thanks Steve,

I wanted it to be a lime green metalflake so I sent some Home Depot paint cards to Ron and he shot a few samples for me. The samples were basically just a piece of wood with 5 or 6 different densities of the color on it. I think we went back and forth 2x on that to get the color and the size of the flakes I wanted.

Then I picked the one I liked the best. It kind of looks like a gold in some lighting situations but with a light shone on it the green really pops. I think we ended up with a House of Kolor product but I don't know the actual name. Ron would though. The NCL put a slight yellowing on the white binding and that totally pulled it together with the guard.

Anyone looking for a great Tele or Strat made to their own spec's with unbelieveable care and attention to detail and resulting in a great playing instrument owes it to themseleves to check out Ron Rirn. His web site is very informative, and he will take your call and you will have a very educational conversation with a really great guy.

I know...my favorite guitar is a Kirn tele that looks almost identical to the Basic T your can find on Ron's site. www.ronkirn.com

Love your's too SBDRocket, and I know why your have given Ron your hearty recommendation.

Here’s a few that I’ll be putting on the site….. it is one beautiful guitar.. and for those interested, Bill Bores hand makes the finest benders on the planet. Comparing his work to the others is like comparing a Ferrari to a Bicycle.

As Ron said the bender is a machinist's dream. I've never had a bender before and actually have only played one or two for less than 5 minutes in my entire life but I have spent a lot of time checking them out over the last 1/2 year as I planned this guitar. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and looks like it was designed and built by a team of Porsche engineers.

I'm also finding it very easy to control. It is set up for full step bends (as most are) but I have worked out some 1/2 step stuff too and it's very precise. I am one lucky picker.

Weird, I've been wanting a bound green metalflake tele for a long time, too. So bizarre that several of us seem to want that. I've been wanting more of an emerald green, though. Green Sparkle Posse!
