Cool guy. Just saw a Custom Shop Tele by Ron for $42K. Good grief. I sure hope he gets a big chunk of that!

Looks like an ambush to me...but handled graciously.

Right? I thought the same thing. At one point, I thought they were presenting the guitar to Ron.

"Ron ..... ummmmm ..... errrr ..... What do you think of this here Les Paul????" :crazy

    Really?

Looked like our brother @Ron Thorn was caught off-guard. Maybe not, but seems to me like he was put on the spot.

Honest, straight shootin' Ron said, “I've never really got along with 'em”!(or words to that effect!).

Definitely didn't come across as an ambush. The Thomann guy specifically mentioned that on a visit to Gibson very recently they asked the new president, Conway(?) "Strat or Tele?". Then he basically asks Ron about the Les Paul in that vein. Definitely don't see any controversy here and didn't get the sense that Ron felt like he was tricked.

Did Ron later mention anything, or is this just TGP interest in someone else's life?

    Thanks guys.
That, and a few other videos, took place at Thomann Music in Germany.
Had no idea what each YouTuber was going to ask me. Winged it as best I could. Haven’t spent a lot of time in front of a camera so that was a factor.
The hotel toiletries consisted of a single 4-in-1 product:
    Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Toothpaste.
    German Beer is goooood.

I’ve received numerous emails regarding the “useless” neck pickup comment.
I should have emphasized its uselessness for ME...obviously tons of killer music has been performed on that setting, with the proper amp and style.
Just not me preference, I also don’t really care for a Strats bridge pickup setting.
Everyone has an opinion, yours is no more “right” than anyone else’s.

Did I mention the German beer?

If someone doesn’t understand that, it’s completely on them.

    People, amirite?

    And yeah... Germans know beer.

I just got back from 10 days in Munich and Vienna. There is no way to emphasize how superb the beer is there. The food was extraordinary. I ate about 10 Schnitzels in Vienna, and about 30 sausages in Bavaria. I'll never forget the food markets and beer and food. So.....I hear ya Ron!
I thought it was a good interview, myself....if anything caught Ron off guard, IMO, it was having to answer honestly yet be nice to a guy about his guitar that he was clearly proud of. That's not so easy with a camera in your face I suspect!
Where does one store 50 guitars....and cases!? I have issues storing my cases more than the guitars, but 40 would force me to add on to my house. LOL

Back in '72, my best friend and I entered the army. He got sent to Germany, I got sent to Alaska. So he was exposed to great beer, I to all kinds of seafood. He even won a 1 liter leaded crystal boot at the Munich Octoberfest for chugging it full of bock!
