    Before there was Clapton, before there was Charlie Christian - heck, before there was the wheel - there was Roy Smeck. A virtuoso on the guitar, lap steel, tenor banjo and ukulele, Smeck was a star on stage, on record and in film. He was a great showman, and he left his name on instruments and his influence on how they are played.

    This documentary was made in 1983, when he was a spry 83 years old and evidently as talented as ever.

    Cool that the whole documentary is up now. I owned that Harmony H-62 for several years.
