is the tone significantly altered towards the good? or is there not much difference?
thanks. also would the BB Preamp do a better job with heavy overdrive tones?

18v is a big difference. It's almost a different, and better, pedal at 18v.

I use it at 18v and it is amazing. I actually use LP on 18v and love it.

thanks a million Guys! that makes me feel better about this pedal. i know its not a high gainer but this overdrive should cook, but it lacks a little without the 18V which i havent tried yet.

This pedal really shines at 18V and low gain...below nine. A fuzz before it can be nice too.

I also use the pedal at 18v on lp. I really like it as a low gain overdrive.

To spice it up a bit, try running a Fulldrive 2 Mosfet into the OCD, with both running at 18 volts. Very nice!

Would any of you guys be willing to describe the differences at 18v vs. 9v.

Is the gain structure different? Less muddy?

    ???

It is common to describe a pedal running at higher voltage as having more "headroom". To me sounds like the pedal is more "open"...not as compressed....

I usually only run it at 18v with HBs.

Try running the fulldrive after the OCD too, I use my fulldrive after my OCD as a "tubescreamer" kind of boost after the OCD and I absolutely love it!

This thread is relative to my interest.

Would it hurt to run it at 12V DC? There is a 12 volt on my Fuel Tank, but I'm scared to try it with my OCD...would it damage anything?

I've got the 18V power cable coming, looking forward to trying the OCD at 18V.
I just ordered the new BB Preamp MB and I'm hoping it will fall somewhere between my Crunchbox and the OCD tone wise on my pedalboard.

IMO at around 14v or so it really 'wakes up'. Anything below that has that fizz sound to it.

I use 18v and the gain is pretty high in lp mode.

Sounds great at 9, 12, or 18volts. Favorite at 18 though. Mucho headroom. Amp-like. Cleans up really well.
