Hey my friends! Do you know what Santana was using in the Woodstock years (I mean that great era shown in the famous videos around there) as far as effects are concerned?

if you look at the video, it seems like he's plugged straight into his amp—albeit an overdriven amp.

I thought that he used those 300 watt SS Gallien Kruegers at Woodstock.

he may have used them for slave amps, but he played blackface twins back then.

Here's a recent relevant thread where everyone argues over what he used at Woodstock.
    See: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=295338
Seems the majority believe it was a Gallien SS amp. Right at the end of the "Soul Sacrifice" Woodstock performance, around 8.45 - 9.00 you can see his amp. If he is using Fender Twins he must have hidden them beneath the stage. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnamP4-M9ko
A little Gallien-Kruger timeline-states that the GM226A went to Woodstock with Carlos.
    See: http://www.gallien-krueger.com/info_innovations.html
Here's a little history of solid state amps: look at the 1968 entry. See: http://www.ssguitar.com/index.php?topic=469.msg4851

Yeah the one to your left is the bass amp - the one to your right is Carlos'. In the vid it is the one with the white guitar lead coming out of it.
