What a terrific show! To be honest, all I own of hers is the "Wrecking Ball" album that she did w/ Daniel Lanois - which is a fantastic album. As for her catalog I must admit for some reason I just never went looking into it (not sure why really). Anyways, my wife was able to get free tickets through a friend of ours who is a local DJ, plus we got meet n' greet passes.

As for the show... I was blown away by the power of her voice. It was huge, rich and booming (great acoustics in the theatre she played in) but at the same time incredibly gentle/graceful. Her band was super top notch, with most of the guys switching between several instruments. Her guitarist, who's name escapes me, was flat out awesome. He played a Tele and a Gretsch thru a silverface Deluxe Reverb. Cool faux pedal steel/atomospheric Lanois-esqe textural playing with TONS of feel. Just great!

The meet and greet was actually very nice and intimate. I imagined it would be her sitting at a table with folks lined up for a quick autograph. Instead we went backstage and hung out in a room with her and her 2 dogs. There was probably 20 or so folks there. We got a great pic w/ me and the Wife sitting with Emmylou and her dogs. The next day her "people" emailed a few to us. We got to chat for a few and she was very down to earth, warm and friendly. Nice to met someone with her accomplishments remain grounded and gracious.

All in all it was a wonderful night. And to think when I heard she was coming to town I wasn't planning on going.... boy would I have missed out! I really need to start getting more of her stuff. The material from the new albumd that she played was really, really good live so I think I'll be picking that up soon.

I got to see her a few years ago with just Buddy Miller backing her up... one of the best shows I've ever seen.

A long wonderful road for her. She's blessed with a voice that is still incredible as the years pass. My wife and I have seen countless shows. Always leaves us breathless.....

If everyone on earth took one day to listen to Emmylou sing......instant worldwide peace.

Can't be having that.

I have seen her 2x and had the same reaction - awesome shows. I really envy that you got to meet her backstage- how cool is that! Enjoy. She's the best.

Emmy is the best, I will always remember the many times I seen her in concert. One of my favorite, She toured with Linda Rondstad in support of thier album, Buddy Miller and Bernie Leadon in the band with other All-Stars.. awesome lineup. Been in love with her music since I was a kid.

Got to see her from the front row at Tanglewood in 1975 with the original Hot Band ... 10' from James Burton right in front of me ... OMG, what a band and what voice, and she's kept rolling on from there at a high level of quality .... great stuff.

I saw her about 5 years ago, and sadly missed the last show she did in London 2 years go (I was not in town that night)...the one time that I did see her, she was incredible...I wish she would come to Europe more often.

Was the band the red dirt boys? Keyboard / accordian player? Can't remember the name of the violin / mandolin(?) player but he's well known. Both times I saw her the band was similar except for the guitarist.

I met her at a 7/11 in West LA in the late-90s. She was beautiful and sweet. I saw her again a couple of days later backstage at a benefit concert. She gave me a big hug in front of everyone! A very cool moment.

Saw Buddy Miller do a solo gig with backing band. It was an outdoor festival gig at Magfest. He was running several reissue Fender Bassmans. Sounder great. Brilliant player who knows how back up a vocalist and play for the song.
