    Hey guys,

I put a 250k volume pot in my tele, but now it crackles. It only happens from the full-off position until it's barely on. The rest of the sweep is fine. Any ideas? I'm not sure if I have a bad pot or something wacky happened with my soldering.

    Thanks!

Step one is always a short burst of Deoxit into the pot casing (through any hole.) Don't overdo it, and likely you won't have any more problems. Try it...the stuff is a very useful product for a musician!

You can use contact cleaner like Barnzy said. I just sweep the pot really fast for maybe 10~20 times and most of the times it's gone.

Any more ideas? I finally got deoxit, and did the pot sweep thing. It seems like when I turn it all the way off, the final turn to "off" is when it pops/scratches, and then from "off" to barely on it pops. Could I have a bad solder or bad ground?
