The highly-touted second or third Secret Wars by Marvel is out now, issues #1 and 2. Great Ribic art....can't wait to read this story, which is supposed to re-align the entire Marvel Universe (at least for now, or until the next big event).....

    Anyone else?

Yep! I have the first two issues but haven't had a chance to read them yet because I'm behind on my normal reading from finals. I can't wait to see what they do at the end of this thing and I'm especially excited for the new A-Force title.

I think I'll hold out for the Secret Crisis of Infinite Earth Wars.

I have no idea what the storyline is. It's being written by Jonathon Hickman, so who knows, and even when we know, we might not know. However, it is supposed to create a new Marvel universe, I think.

It's a collision of the 616 and Ultimate universes, with all the little ones thrown in for good measure. So I don't think its creating a new universe as much as combining all of them into a single universe.

Having been away from comics since the original Secret Wars, is this a retelling of that concept?

Since the original limited series was pretty lame, I'm going to hope not.

I love comics, but I'm generally not a fan of these giant multi issue, multi character cross over books.

8 issues for the core series. More than I care to count for the tie-ins. It's going to run across every marvel title plus 10+ mini series.

I think there are some similarities with the battle world concept, but the stories are unrelated as far as I can tell.

Marvel Secret Wars. You can get them at any local comic shop or on the marvel website/comixology.

Interesting...I have the original (what was it, 8 or 10 issues in the series) of the very first Secret Wars run from the 1980s. Are these old comics finally worth something now?

The original limited series was twelve issues. Pretty sure at least #8 is worth something.

I usually don't like them either. The artwork is what has drawn me in .

I hate trying to keep up with all the issues across the spectrum that have the tie ins.... but I know its good business to do it that way.

Why is issue 8 of Secret Wars so special

Why is that one valuable? Is that the one where Spidey got the new costume?

I think that is indeed the full reveal of the black costume.

I just read the first two issues the other night and.....this is going to be an interesting series. Without giving away too much, the first issue was a fairly normal heroes from the Marvel Universe vs. heroes from the Ultimate universe, and issue two was about completely different characters....I'm not sure I even know who these character are. So far I would say that each issue is going to be its own chapter, if not story. The art is incredible., but Hickman's writing has always perplexed me......he seems to write like he leaves a lot of stuff out that he assumes the reader will know or get without having to read it. For me Hickman's writing is hard to follow. I hated his FF run...
