I don't know why but this little amp intrigues me.

How would it sound with a Les Paul?

NO!!! I wish my Fender Twin had half the soul that any Dr Z amp has going. I'm off the Fender train ASAP.

I hate to sound harsh but if you do that you are insane. I know because I sort of did the same thing. I sold my Carmen Ghia head to get an old american made Fender Blues Deluxe. I then sold that to get a DRRI. I have now sold that and I recently bought a MAZ 18 NR and I just purchased a Gries 35 on ebay. After all this I wish I still had my Carmen Ghia. That amp is pretty amazing and I may try to get another one. That new princeton looks overpriced to me. Keep the Carmen Ghia and save for a Gries 5 or a Gries Sea Horse or something like that.

I was just curious as to the opinions I would get. I kind of had the same feeling as some of the responses here.....

    Umm..it is made in america.

I think that you should buy with your ears. If you like the PRRI better, get it. If not keep your Z.

People listen too much with their eyes sometimes.

PTP, made here, made there. Buy what SOUNDS best to YOU.

Anyways, the PTP vs Circuit board is far less important than EL 84 vs 6v6.

THAT was the other point of curiosity for me.

I might just wait until they start showing up used for $400-$500 and pick one up to try.

At 899 brand new, why would they be $400 used? The DRRI doesn't sell for that used and it was until recently around that price. I think the princeton will hold on to a used price $600 - $700 since it is new for $899.

no way ... wait til you can find a used PRRI, unless the Ghia is specifically not doing something you need it to do this would not be a good move IMO.

Um, I know this is probably just a missuse of the phrase, but the z's arent point to point, they're turret board construction. Obviously, not an integral point to this conversation, but I felt the clarification should be made. Sorry if I offended anyone...

I have both a Ghia and a PRRI. They are very different sounding amps... the PRRI (particularly when beefed up with a 12" baffle/speaker) dies the blackface thing VERY, VERY well. But it won't growl like the Ghia.

Both are keepers...sell something else. :)

Not exactly your situation, but I have a DRRI and a Z-28...both are amazing little 6v6 22 watt amps, and very different. I'd hate to have sell one to have the other, but if so, the Z-28 would stay!

Keep the Z and buy the Princeton when the honeymoons are over for half the price.
