Does anyone posting on here ever:

    A. Go out in public?

    B. Combine A with going to hear/see music performed?

    C. Combine A with playing music?

    Recent threads have me wondering.

    D. Actually like music?

There seems to be a lot of players here who give me the impression that they hate music, and just use it as a means to make money.

They're not the professionals, either - the pros are very cool, generally.

Yup, just booked my first solo gig (after years of band gigs) via cold-calling in person.

I walked in, told her what I do, gave her a flyer and she busted out the calendar.

I guess it depends on the modern definition of "public".

If you make a video alone in your room and upload it to Youtube and it gets 100,000 views, is that less of a public interaction than playing to a bar in front of 10 people?

In public means not in private.
If you're alone in your room, you're not in public.
So, to answer your question, playing in a bar in front of ten people is a more public interaction than sitting in the privacy of your room.

If you're still fuzzy on the definition or meaning of either "public" or "interaction", please let me know and I can suggest some acts you can perform in public that will allow you the opportunity to interact with the police, an attorney, and a judge.
I'm sure they'll be better able to explain the subtle, modern, differences between "in private" and "in public" more convincingly than I might, and you'll be able to experience interactions with other human beings first hand.

    Hope that helps!

I do A, B and C as much as my schedule and bank account will allow. Haven’t been home much in the last couple of months.

TGP is for when I’m at work.

If I don't do these things, I get grumpy... then I'm told to do those things by those around me.
I love those who are around me. they are smart.

    yeah, yeah, yeah, but;

    a) What are you trying to get out of this thread?
    b) What threads or usual answers made you think this?
    c) Even if there are people that don't go outside, you think they'll respond?

I'd bet there are a few, but who cares? I'll probably ask them about champs and practice amps cause they'll have experience. TGP ranges from top session guys, to a lot of weekend warriors, to the guy that played that awesome reverbed out strat on "wicked game" by Chris Isaak, to awesome builders and techs, to maybe some internet hermit guys who don't play much, sure. But you think this thread will make them admit it and you'll learn something? You gonna prove there are some hermits here? Maybe I'm missing the point, but this thread seems dark and pointless...

I just quit a band that was playing more original clubs & festivals because I was getting too burnt out and distracted from other life concerns - but I still go to blues jams and I love to jam with friends.

If I am going to get in a band again, it would be with one that does a full night of sets. I hate the "rush to set up, play and rush to tear down" approach of a "show band."
