I used this wiring diagram to wire my strat...

    http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=1h_2s_1v_2t_5w

The neck pickup is a fender SCN with three connections. I wired green and black together as ground, following info from the web.

The middle pickup is an Evans noiseless wired hot to hot, ground to ground. It is not reverse wound. There is a middle wire that is unconnected.

Bridge is a hot rails wired as in the diagram.

When I use the neck pickup, and take my hands off the guitar, it makes a ton of noise and even squeals with high gain. When I touch the metal on the pickup selector switch, it seems to get louder in all positions. Bridge and middle pickup seem to be normal otherwise.

Anyone know what the issue is?

    Thanks.

Pickup not potted, or perhaps need some wax between the pickup cover and the pickup? I have a Grosh with that right now that I have to fix.

Not too much gain, a second and third strat sound fine.

Not a potting issue, the SCN is sealed.

Probably a grounding issue, but works well when the strings are touched, so it seems to be grounded well.

Check all the ground wires. I would suspect that the wire that goes from the controls thru the guitar to the claw part of the tremolo assembly has come loose.

Hmmm ... but if touching the guitar makes a huge noise difference, it would mean there is a connection there ... of some type. Will check it out.
