What did you end up with when shimming your Epiphone Casino's pickups? As a single coil pickup, should the pickup height specs end up in the range of Fender single coils? Did you shim just the bridge pickup or both bridge and neck? I am new to P90s so any info would be helpful. Thanks!

Btw, my pickups are stock in a MIC Casino.

FWIW, when I bought my Wolfetone P90s Wolfe said to start at 1/8" from the poles and go from there. P90s, from what i understand can sit nice and close, closer than other pickup types. This is all in general, not for an Epi specifically.

P90s like to sit close. Raising pole pieces can help but shims are ideal.

P90s sound best close to the strings for sure. I got some shims from Fralin. I found the thin one to be too thin and the thick one to be too thick. I took the thick one and sanded it down. It was a PITA, but I got it perfect and threw it under the bridge and it was a real difference maker. The PU's were more balanced to each other and the bridge ROCKED closer to the strings. That was my old Lennon Casino I had until I got my 335.

I've got a couple plumbing 'bib washers' underneath the bridge PU of my 64 330.
    Easy install, easy removal.

Could there be issue with magnetic pull when getting them close to the strings. I've got my polepieces radiused to the fretboard right now. Will this even be necessary with shims installed?

I have an Epi Sorrento - I purchased rubber gasket material from an Auto Parts store, traced the pickup shape and cut away interior in order to "clear" brackets etc....works good and easy to do....so there is a "seal" against the body....probably doesn't make a diff -

they also have thick card stock gaskets too

The only Dog Ear problem I had was after replacing one..the new one sat too close where the strings were actually too close to the pickup edge (Hamer Jr). The opposite of the usual problem of the pick up being too low. I wound up using the old cover after some shaving of it to make it fit the new one.
