Shock Rock origins

I reckon the examples posted so far are more gimmicky pop music than the shock rock of the Alice Cooper Group, Bowie, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie etc

Well even the Beatles had matching suits and haircuts, but what I'm saying is that it's a stretch to include the novelty acts of the 60's with the rock bands that released legitimate music but just happened to have 'shock' as part of their visual appeal. It's like lumping in The Monster Mash with Billion Dollar Babies.

didnt originate, but very much major early contributors not to be overlooked for balls out creativity were david bowie and new york dolls

i know now we say they were “glam” but back then it was consodered a bit shocking

One thing shocking is how long Screaming Lord Sutch's hair was in the early 60s.

He's freaking out the audience with a giant cat toy at 6:15...

Who was the guy that used to set his hat on fire and do other weird things? I can't remember right now.
