Is Stew-Mac the best place to buy shop tools like precision straightedges and digital calipers or are there other options. Stew-Mac seems a little expensive.

I bought some nice digital calipers from max tool
    http://www.maxtool.com/hmpg/carrera_precision/cp_calipers_main.htm

they work great.. Used the same ones running a $250,000 Omax water jet.. never failed me, was soaked in water, garnet, crud, always worked.

Stewmac has everything you need in 1 place but their pricing is high.. Especially on items that really arent Specificly for guitar..

Harbor freight, cummins tools, & Flea markets can be a mans best friend :)

StewMac has EVERYTHING, but you'll PAY for it.

I know I could probably find stuff cheaper but StewMac has all the cool tools on one virtual checkout and it's not as if your buying thousands of $$$ of stuff. I've got nut files, nut ruler, diamond fret file, fret pullers, and I'm out $200.00

I got the StewMac digital calipers and although it seems to be a precision instrument, there were a LOT of very sharp edges that I had to dremel down to achieve a reasonable level of user friendliness. Chinese machining.......

    Interestingly.
I and several other people I know here in England buy from Stewmac because they are so cheap.
I probably wouldn`t buy general engineering tools from them but for guitar specific things and parts, even after paying for shipping and import duty, I still save money.

Their service is fantastic too. I can order on saturday and take delivery on wed afternoon. Quicker than most UK companies manage.
