Hi folks, forgive me if this is an old question but I couldn't locate any info in a search. I am wanting to try out a 22 1/2" scale Mustang and I know they come in 24" and 22 1/2" scales. It is my understanding that the best visual way to determine the scale length is the number of frets. Fender put 21 frets on the shorter scale and 22 on the longer. I realize the number of frets do not per se need to be a particular number to change a scale but that Fender just did it that way. Is this correct? Otherwise, how would you know visually what the scale length is without measuring it? When I look at ads I want to be able to visually tell. I'm wondering if that is even possible. Thanks!
