    Hey guys,

In the spirit of TGP I figured I should show off my newly acquired Telecaster....all original except for the pickguard and neck pickup (bridge pup needs a repair, but I have it). Saddles are newer Fender saddles, but I have the originals too...weighs in just under 7 lbs and is extremely resonant and just a killer sounding guitar...ridiculous through my Maz Sr...goes well with my '66 J-45...haha

I had one of those! I sold it in '80 for $90.00 because it needed a fret job. :jo

It looked just like that. Hey, I wonder if that's mine??? Give me my guitar back!!!!:)

    that's great man !!

I have a LOT of stuff from 1966. There's something about the year. Maybe CBS was trying to prove itself, i dunno, but EVERYTHING i have from 1966 is KILLER ( amps and guitars )

I would think it would look even better w/ an aged white guard ( w/ no screw holes for that neck pickup )

good find - where'd you get it ?

haha...I bought it from the original owner...he was funny. I asked him where he got it and he said "from a store" and then I asked when and he said "1965"...haha...must have been 66, but...haha

Yeah, '66 seems to be a great year...I hang with Lyle Workman a lot and he has several '66s that he loves dearly...he was pretty shocked at this guitar (I got it for an obscenely good price).

I totally agree about the pickguard...originals are like $600 on ebay, so I might just get a Glendale or something....'66s were w/b/w, right?

Like I said above I bought it from a private seller here in LA. Just a listing on craigslist that turned out to be gold...

    mds, great score!!!

I had similar luck with a '66 a few months back. Found this terrific Custom '66 tele at a great price. The p/ups are amazing...

    Nice guitars, both.

There's an old guy here that lives in a dinky little town that has a 50s Esquire and a Deluxe amp his parents bought him in the 50s. He has a job at some fishing resort up north in the summer, and every winter he comes back here, and I call him every year to see if he wants to sell them LOL One of these days...

I had a '66 Tele that looked exactly like this one. Bought it new and sold it in college (University at Buffalo - 1971) to finance a camera. Didn't touch a guiter for almost 30 years after that.

Man, I wish I could send myself a message through time to keep the guitar and keep playing.
