I've been on TGP for a few months now, and always see people talking about a "jangle" tone, and I have an idea in my head of what that sounds like, but really would like to know what some of the others hear it as. So I call on my fellow TGPers to show me some clips of what you would consider a jangly guitar tone, and maybe I'll discover some new music in the process. Go nuts!

+1 all the way, and don't forget The Searchers, REM, and many more.

Listen to "The Ties That Bind" by Springsteen. That's jangle. Listen to "When You Walk In the Room" by The Searchers. Listen to "Bells Of Rhymney" by The Byrds. Listen to "If I Needed Someone" by The Beatles. Check out "Listen To Her Heart" by Petty.

Listen to anything Roger McGuinn plays with a Rickenbacker 12 string, a clean amp and a Janglebox compressor.

Okay, I'm loving this thread. Thanks a bunch! Great classic music, and I've got a better sense of the term. Win-win.

Another definitive jangle song from the Beatles.

Yeah. Always happy to see Husker Du in a thread, but that ain't jangle. Lot's of other great examples, though. -E
