I need some inspiration for the parts strat I am building. Show me what you've got!
I don't think this is quite what you meant, but it's definitely not a typical finish. It's my CS Strat with a finish called "Aurora Glow" (I think; it's like a holoflake finish):

What is everyone a traditionalist?
Natural finished Warmoth. Koa top on a black Korina body.
This is what happens when you use the original color code for Burghundy Mist Metallic, without any yellow tinting in the clear to simulate aging:
This is a Strat I painted with some chamelion stuff. Very cool. Sometime blue, sometimes purple.
This is the gold metalflake body I'm getting in a week or two. I can't wait. It'll sorta match my gold metalflake tele.
in a rare color Sunset Orange. Its transparent over ash and just a fantastic looking guitar. I think they were only made one year, 99 I think. Fender still sells a P-bass in this finish but not a Tele or Strat:
I've wanted one of these ever since I saw one hanging new, and am super happy I was able to find a mint one this many years after manufacture.
I LOVE that kind of paint, one of these days I gotta have a guitar done in it.
Go Cat Go:
How does that Korina/Koa strat sound? I've been thinking about building a partscaster with a korina body. Any details (pickup and hardware choices) and tonal descriptions would be appreciated.
No pic handy, but I have an American Deluxe Plus in "crimson burst". I've never seen another like it.
Here is our take on the short lived Fender HM Series Strat. It is the late 80s Heavy Metal USA version. Came to us in a completely beat and worn out white suit. We fixed it up and redressed it as you see it in the image. Very much a non-traditional strat finish. But hey it is from the heavy metal series, there is no way it was getting refinished to Daphne Blue.

This is my Alder/Lacewood Warmoth strat, Warmoth B.E. neck and board
Wilkinson vintage bridge, Dimarzio Area 58 neck and mid. I switch the bridge pup between the Area '61 and DP414
Sounds, and plays absolutely kick azz
Here's mine. Not the best pic. It's really beautiful in person.
I bought it from a TGP member a couple of years ago. He posted a picture of it in a post of his. He was actually posting a pic of his amp but the Grosh was in it too. I fell in love with it at first sight. I emailed him and told him that if he ever thought about selling it to please contact me. The rest is history.
I love this guitar!
