I'm working with Matt on a tele style build and I'd love to see some photos of your MJTs. Post a photos and list some specs, whether you worked with MJT to build one or purchased on the used market. Looking forward to seeing what you have!

I have a build in progress, LPB with no white under coat medium relic more on the back than on the front, gold wudtone bridge and neck plate. Either Don Mare Night Flyers or J.M Rolphs 63 pretender pickups. Thats all I've got so far, might put a 63 Jazzmaster neck on it, undecided.

I have five MJT bodies, 3 strats and 2 teles (all from eBay). One of two partscasters that I built in this year was a red hardtail strat from MJT. It's an alder body. The hardtail sunburst in the pic is also from MJT, and it's swamp ash.

Out of 10 strats I have, these are the only hardtails. I don't use the trem at all, and all of my strats are decked, anyway. I actually like these hardtails a lot.

I want to start the ordering process in the next couple months. I'm going to probably buy the pickups on a work trip to the US next week to save around €80.

Nice. What kind of build? What pickups are you going with?

I’ve got a build that just started so no pics yet. It’s a custom Warmoth Strat body that’s a hard tail solid alder with a contoured heel.

I’m going for a medium/heavy candy apple green color.

It’ll be an HSS with Porter vintage custom singles and a Duncan Pearly Gates trembucker with Obsidian HSS wiring.

Since mine just got started, I still have quite a long wait ahead of me. :(

Awesome strats .

Do you notice a big difference between the hardtails and the strats with their trems decked ?

I’ve never been able to connect with a strat like I can a tele . I’ll always wondered if it’s because of the trem .

Lately I’ve been considering getting a hardtail . I think a hardtail strat with a tele like bridge pickup might be in my future.

Tele build Seafoam Green Swamp Ash body with black binding , Medium C Roasted Maple neck jumbo frets, Medium relic, Suhr Thornbuckers, Half bridge 3 saddle.
That's what's in my mind at the moment
Sounds like a rock machine.

For me: Tele - Firemist silver, double bound (white). light-med aging, light-regular checking, normal maple/rosewood, Medium C or LP from Musikraft. 10" radius. Vintage amber, oversprayed aging and light age/checking headstock. Aged parch guard. I try a lot of pickups so I am not sure what I'll put in there to start. Maybe something A3 from Fatpups. thicker bridge plate CRS and brass saddles. Subject to change on the last few items there but the rest is pretty set in stone.

Yes, they sound and feel different. Every strat (or any guitar for that matter) sounds different. And, my experience with the hardtail strats is limited to those two. That said, the hardtails sound less solid and have more air. I can say that for both swamp ash and alder body. Obviously, you don't hear/feel the spring-ness with the hardtails, either. Yet, they still sound strat enough for me.

The extra feature of the hardtails is the weight. It's like 7 or 8oz lighter than the strats with Callaham trem blocks.

The only 2 I've gotten from MJT are below. I have a VTL in the works that'll be more relic'ed than either of these. Both of these are closet classic with some checking and very small dings.

That Strat is a beaut! What necks did you go with?
