I love this build! Very cool. I wouldn't sweat the checking. There's a 85% chance it would have ended up looking that checked in the not too distant future anyways. The lines look how most metallic finishes end up checking. It's the insane spiderweb/broken glass jobs (like my MJT strat) that look funky. I wouldn't have ever ordered it that way - but I love it all the same and barely think twice about it now.

Thanks I'm a big fan of LPB strat, and really pleased with how it looks, make sure you post yours when done I'd love to see it, only thing is I need to find another wall to hang it up as the current blue one is a similar colour.

Will do! I opted for a closet clean, but I’m excited to see it age itself over time, it’s LPB over a nice mellow banana yellow. Similar to a banana pudding color

After playing my SG a couple gigs this weekend, I am kind uninspired by the way it plays, even though it sounds great. Has anyone here built a mahogany Tele style, double HB with MJT?

I haven't made a final decision yet. I may go the thin line route. If you get a pic up of the Dakota Red tele it may sway me that way. I at least have an idea of the pickups I will go with.

Those are pretty cool. One too many tone knobs for me.

I find it quite challenging to capture red guitars accurately in photos, it comes out bright red in the photo when in real life it is more of a brick red colour. Mine is an old refin on a 68 body so may not be pure Dakota but it looks more Dakota it real life than in the photo.

My first but definitely not my last. It's my take on an Andy Summers-styled Tele. Body by MJT, neck by Fender (from my Baja 50's):
