Decade birthdays can be a good excuse to buy something really special like a custom shop or custom ordered guitar. Show the guitar you got to for your last birthday which ended in zero.

I didn't have to buy it myself - my wife got all my friends to chip in on this for my 30th

I only did this once, and I typically don't need a reason to buy myself a guitar :bonk, but this year I bought myself a guitar for my 60th birthday to celebrate the milestone.

My wife bought me this American Strat Deluxe for my 50th, which was two years ago.

A PRS McCarty Soapbar IRW. Purchased for my 40th. I'm entitled to a new decade guitar, but circumstances dictate that will have to wait.[IMG]

A CVC, for my 40th this past August. It was a cheap year.

You can remember how old you were by counting the rings!

hmmm... I don't seem to be seeing any pictures of all these guitars? Oh well...

For my 60th, I had James Goodall build me this beauty! I wanted a redwood top, both to commemorate my time here on the Redwood Coast, and because I'm quite fond of a warm sound, especially on the treble end... It had been four decades since I've owned a mahogany acoustic, and I was interested to have another, as well!

This was 40. Ordered it new. Started a relationship with Reverend that continues today. This pic is from a few years ago. I'm 52 now. The guitar gets better every year. Love it.

    50. My g/f wanted to build me a special guitar for 50, but she was so busy I couldn't see her fitting it in. It was to be a Firemist Gold Custom Esquire with a Transition decal, Fender Bigsby, and Maple Cap. Maybe for 60. ;-)
Instead, she offered to mix-up a special color Burgundy Mist and spray this Reverend.
Did not take nearly as long as a full build, but she still got to do something special for me. Her Shop made the guard from 3/8" plexi and she sprayed it Gold from behind.
