I'm talking anything but white, show it off! I even saw a flamed sunburst pickguard once.
How about a Blackguard.
Mine started out something like this: (brass)
Then I cut the middle pickup hole and patinated it with a black patina that sorta shone purplish, and it looked like this:
Then, after playing it for about three years with my pinky resting below the strings, the patina has worn off (and the guitar has changed) and it looks like this:
I am going to re-patinate it soon, not that I don't like it, just that I liked the black too.
Is that all for funky guards?
'60 Melody Maker, Antiquities, copperguard.
'61 Melody Maker, Harmonic Design STP/Duncan '59, alu-guard.
I love the Tele Pfflam, very personal
And awesome Melody Makers! i really like the one with the copper guard.
Here's my Monterey, don't know if the guard is very different, it's "just" been painted on and then polished, but it's my baby.
My old beat up '83 with a black abalone guard loaded with Vintage Vibe SP90's.
These are awesome. I do not have cool and unusual pick guards on my guitars but the wheels are turning...
Thanks for posting the pics.
I no longer own this particular LP, but I put a rosewood with MOP inlay pickguard on 'er.
I like this one on this parts-o-caster (since given to a friend's teenage son. It's just an all parts silver/black paisley one-but it's real nice lookin' against the black finish
