Just browsing Brian's Facebook page and found this photograph, dated July 2016. I'm not sure what the event was, but the picture's a good one! The man himself, making a return to the stage...

Love that Bluesmaster! P-90s, a sweet, subtle sunburst on a plain top, dot markers and a bound fingerboard... That is one very tasteful guitar!
In fact, now that I mention it, I recall Brian telling me a couple of years ago (very approximately) that he had made himself a "Plain Jane Bluesmaster" after not owning a guitar for several years. Could this be the one?

This newspaper report was accompanying the picture, about a reunion gig for Brian and some of his old bandmates. He reminisces about his old gigging days around Montreal too. :)

What a great thread to find! Here's my Monty that i bought second hand last year. Never really been a Tele-player, but this machine definately changed that! Probaly not because it's a Telecaster, but because it's a Monty...Outstanding guitar, and the neck on this thing was quite the eye-opener, or hands-opener if you like. Hipshot bridge and locking tuners, Lollar bridge pickup, Edmire neck pickup (custom made in Norway!) Sorry about the blurry pic, it's from the first recording session i did with this guitar. What a sound! I'll post some more pics if you want. Cheers from Norway!

    Hi everyone
The guitar that I'm playing is a gold top [ the one from my site] that I bought back at a $1000.00 loss. What can I say, I really needed a guitar as I did not have any finished in the shop and I had just sold my only other personal guitar to Walter Becker [ may he rest/ play in peace].
I think it may look like a sunburst because of the lighting. The guitar is semi-hollow with a mahogany neck and body and a birch top. I even put a piece of masking tape on the case that says mine/ not for sale.
    Cheers
    Brian Monty

Hello Brian! Peter in Scotland here. :) It's a lovely guitar - I love the subtlety of it, with the dot inlays on a bound fingerboard. The Bigsby finishes it off perfectly.

Very nice to see Monty guitars spreading as far afield as Norway! I'm in Scotland myself, and a confirmed Brian Monty fan. I wonder what other countries Monty guitars have made their homes in? Anyone else here from outside Canada and America, or anyone know of other Montys living in far-off lands?

Not mine obviously, but here’s a Monty in the wild.

In case you don’t recognize the player, it’s Ed Robertson from the Barenaked Ladies.

Thanks Stephen for getting the pictures up. I'm not very computer savy.
The wood that I used was curly maple [quarter-sawn/air-dried] ditto for the sides, the neck is hard curly maple and the top is old air-dried Adirondack spruce that I have had for years and the rest is ebony. I make the tailpiece, bridge , pick guard and fingerboard. Normally I put in split block inlays on the fingerboard but my client asked for half moons. The pickup floats and is a Kent Armstrong and the scale is 25.5". The binding is ABS glued on one strip at a time and the finish is nitro. The guitar is really an acoustic with a pickup.
Hopes that this sheds some light.
    Cheers
    Brian
