I just took a chance on buying a Prairiewood guitar off of a fellow forum member, and whoa! I was extremely, pleasantly surprised. I would love to know if anyone else is playing one.

And these are built by Rob, who is ' 57special ' on this board. I can't say enough about the build quality and subsequent tone of these guitars, and I'm really hoping everyone playing them is finding the same thing.

So, please post 'em if you're playing 'em!! And thanks to Rob!!

I'll start with mine (and thanks to Bob (brown-sound), the guy I bought the guitar from, because these are his pictures):

Ya, the woods he chose are beautiful, and I opened the back to take a look at the wiring, and it's top-notch, too.

It's cool to find an independent guy/company/whatever you want o call it making such good guitars.

One of two prototypes made in this design. This is the first and only HB equipped guitar that I'm not going to be selling. He nailed the '59 'Burst sound by using the right woods, build techniques and electronics.

    Nice job Rob!!!

very nice lookin axes! I'm not real hot on the top contour, but everything else looks beeyoootiful! Will he make one with a more traditional (L.P.) style contour on the top? Thanks!

I think that Rob can pretty much accommodate any design specification, within reason, that is. Here are two pics of the top on mine. I don't know how well the pics show it, but it's a traditional carve. Just give him a call.

I bought my Prairiewood secondhand, but if you contact the builder, Rob (57special), he'll probably give you an estimate. :)

I'd rather have you ask Rob but I will say that to have a guitar built from start to finish by one pair of hands it was a bargain.

The big guys don't offer that and if they did the price would likely be 3-4 times what I paid.

I just made a deal with a fellow TGPer for his 57 Special Prairiewood. I'm excited. I'd be interested in more information from those who have Prairiewoods -- talk 'em up!!! Fret work? Tone?

I SEE!! Its just a line in the paint! So the contour IS just like an original.
Oh man. I'm gonna have to talk to this guy. Thanks for showing me how to spend some MORE money, just what I NEED right now!!:)
    BTW, does he use nitro?
