I have a nice Hako station for home use, but need something to throw in my tech box that doesn't command that much real estate, but isn't some Cheap POS

The Wahl Iso-tip rechargeable iron actually works OK, but the tip leads wind up getting bent. I wish they had a different configuration.

The Weller and Neiko battery irons are only fair. Not much heat there.

The Weller WPS18MP is a DC pencil iron, powered by a wall wart supply. The iron itself has a sculptured grip and is self-standing. The tips use a mini phone plug to attach to the body. Maybe the best choice.

There aren't any perfect choices in toolbox irons.

Edit: added a link to the Weller iron: http://www.cooperhandtools.com/ad_pages/WPS18MP/index.cfm

I've used a butane iron in close quarters and have had problems with the exhaust gas or radiated heat from the catalytic screen melting neighboring insulation. Maybe I had the gas flow up too high, but it soured me on them for inside the amp or inside a guitar work.
