And speaking of tongues, what is tongue oil? How do they make it? Does it hurt? What tongues do they use? Oily ones, I assume... Pretty slimy I'd guess.

While mistaking tung oil for "tongue oil" is probably common, it should be remembered that you should probably not try to apply tung oil with your tongue.

For some reason this post brings to mind an old Three Stooges short and the boys were standing next to a meat truck...the company name was "Belmont Steaks":rotflmao

if you're serving tongues, expect to dine alone. ('no guest' is an anagram of tongues.)

It is an organ and just say no to organ meats...unless you're Hogy. Then you can eat whatever the heck you want and be fine.

"The tongue is a muscular hydrostat on the floor of the mouth of most vertebrates which manipulates food for mastication. It is the primary organ of taste (gustation), as much of its upper surface is covered in taste buds."

Hacked tomatoes stopped being served after 9 in the middle of March. The tomato farmer made an unexpected appearance in another location on the third of April. Other than that he has been reading and pondering.

Is this a cooking thread? It's hard to tell what some of these pub threads are about.

But the tongue varies from most organ-meats (the ones that peeps typically complain about) in that it does not actively process or metabolize foodstuffs. Therefore it is less likely than, say, liver or kidney to be harboring elevated levels of toxins over and above other muscle-meats in the same animal. The process of 'taste' does not keep an accumulation of food particles for any appreciable length of time. They are washed free by saliva and the near-constant motion of the tongue.

Now, if cows smoked, then we'd have something else to talk about.

I believe the tongue, like the heart, is considered an organ.

Hence, organ meat, unless I miss your meaning.
