Two of my all-time favorite songs. Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction are two of my favorite metal guitar tones.

    Rust in Peace:
Bogner Fish Preamp into a VHT 2150 power amp

    Countdown:
Custom Audio Electronics 3+ Preamp into a VHT 2150 poweramp

I'm done with the rack thing. Wondering what heads can get close to these tones. To my ears, a JCM Marshall can get pretty darn close to the Rust in Peace tone, but the Countdown tone is so freaking tight I have no idea how to get that.

Here you go, here's his setup.

He does tend to go for the classic Marshall Thrash sound. He probably eq's the living daylights out of it and it sounds very compressed. I used to own a Randall RG50TC, it sounded very close to that sort of sound and was very very compressed. It could've done with one less gain stage methinks.
