Slide key .. Early in the morning (Clapton)

    Does anyone know if Clapton uses open key when playing 'Early in the morning' (the Backless album) ...?

    No, but thanks for reminding of that album, haven't heard it in decades but really liked it.
    Off to buy another copy...

    Sounds like open A to me. EAEAC#E or open G (DGDGBD) capoed on the 2nd fret! Hard to tell for 100 % sure but those sound like open G or A licks.

    People always say he uses open G but I think he might use open A for some (same tuning, up one step). I think he uses open A on Motherless Children on the 461 Open Boulevard album. That song is in A.

    ... And yes! What a great album it is! I just love the old stuff .. Same thing with Buddy Guy. The recordings from the sixties .. Love 'em big time!
