I think the old Rolls/RFX expression pedal might be a bit smaller than the standard Boss/L6/etc

Look for some old DOD VCC1, theyre just under the size of a killer wail and have no attached power cord to get in the way.

I'll second the RFX volume/expression pedal. I had one and it was pretty small. Unfortunately I loanded it out and it never came back.

    Theres the Toneczar ErnieBall Jr.
It's the ErnieBall Volume pedal Jr. converted into a expression pedal.

I just compared my rolls pedal vs. a boss ev-5- the rolls is as wide but 1.5" shorter, but doesn't have the built in cable the ev-5 does, so you have to add to the width.

A solution I haven't finished yet is converting a pair of atari paddles, which use regular 1meg potentiometers in 'em. I've also thought about modding an old crybaby (about 2" longer than an ev-5) to an expression pedal with a true bypass loop built in, which would use the wah on/off switch.

The ernie ball jr. is even bigger than a crybaby, BTW.

I dont think you can buy one without an effect and theyre much larger than he is looking for.

    Now yer talking.

These things have got to be easy to make: do you have any inside info on what exactly constitutes an expression pedal?

and for that matter, what abut Volume pedals? would it be as easy as rewiring an atari driver sim pedal?

Somehow I keep seeing Volume pedals and expression pedals on the Bay for an excorbitant amount of money and can't help but think that it should be so easy to make one, and so much cheaper.

Sorry. I had no idea. I just remembered seeing that a while back and thought I'd throw it out there.

I couldn't find anything smaller than the EV5. So I had a TRS switcher built. Saves room, the only catch is that if you're using both pedals at once, you have to pull the exp plug out of the one you're not using the exp pedal on.

Funny, I'm using it on the exact same pedals.

How big is that board, Lou? It's got a lot of stuff on it I like. The only thing missing is a wah pedal;)

Just got out my camera and got a photobucket account so thought I'd post some pictures I've been putting off for a while. Here's a pic of the expression pedals we've talked about so far- from left to right EB jr, crybaby, rolls volume pedal, boss ev-5. Keep in mind that the boss ev5 is the only one with a built in cables coming out of the top. The rolls has jacks on one side, the crybaby one on each side and the ernie ball on the top.

Here is the atari paddle, rolls and ev5.

And here is a pic of the paddle showing that it's just a potentiometer inside.
