I’d try it. Cooked watermelon is pretty weird. It really changes texture completely and most of the sweet sugaryness goes away, leaving it more vegetable-like. I’ve grilled some before and it’s kind of a trip. That result but brined and smoked would be an interesting dish.
That's just nasty. I love watermelon but not like that..
I'd definitely try it. Sounds interesting to me, but I'd rather it be an appetizer than a dish.
Well, where did you put the bacon?
Watermelon freak here. I eat about 10+ lbs/wk. I love it with feta cheese, in salads, etc. i’d try it once.
Watermelon tastes like $hit anyway
I imagine that would just make it worse
Agreed...It's pretty much just a waste of pink and green.
I think that could be a component of a really cool innovative dish. Also could be a really cool alternative for vegan friends at your BBQ instead of the generic grilled portobello (which isn’t even faux BBQ anyway). But for my limited purposes, I’m sticking with pork shoulder.
anyone going to try it ?

I like smoked meats. I like watermelon, but NO! How does it not just taste rotten?
I am thinking about matching it with pork here...
Me too. I mentioned this to my dr at a recent physical and he said I couldn’t over eat watermelon...so I’m trying to prove him wrong.
the heck you cant - its loaded with sugar
I might be willing to give it a try. The thought of hot watermelon alone sounds pretty disgusting but this sounds like it could be...interesting.
It is like you want everyone to get intestinal parasites.
Mmmmmm meat melon...
