    Guys,

I can't find any of the Snake Oil String threads. I need to buy a bunch. Anyone know the best place to get them from now and the best price? Anyone offer bulk discounts (ie for 10 or 20 sets at a time)?

    Thx, Carl

Send Dean Farley an email at: LeoMuser@aol.com

He is a moderator here under the name PinkStrat

A great person to deal with, excellent customer service and the best strings on the market.

Not only is it down, but I've been waiting 3 weeks on strings...

Dean is usually better then that. Is he around lately?

I just got some strings last week; they took a little longer than I expected, but I'd not ordered from SOB before, so I don't have a frame of reference.

I've been waiting for a month now. I've been corresponding with Dean and it appears he has had some problems with the Post office. I hope he starts using delivery confirmation.

I really like the product but I find it easier to get even more obscure strings like Newtones for my Acoustic.

I ordered 15 sets last November.

They arrived in like 5 days. I was impressed.

    Plus, they sound GREAT.

That said, I've been waiting for maybe 3 1/2 weeks from the order date for a PGC, but Dean was out of stock and it's coming from Finland or Sweden.

Hmm... sounds like trouble with the post office guys... I ordered 3 sets of vintage 10's and 4 sets of vintage 11's middle to end of last week and they arrived yesterday already... So it doesn't sound like it's a bottleneck on Dean's end at least.

No need to shop around. Dean is the inventor and distributer of SOS strings. He has another distributor on another board, but the prices will be the same, (if not then there won't be other distributors much longer...). I've bought many orders of SOS strings from Dean and four BJF pedals and everything has always gone smothly. Dean is a straight shooter and a stand-up guy.

I've had good luck with SOB, personally. Killer strings. You'll love 'em, Carl.

This dude posts on HC and has good references. He sells the strings. I'll get my next order from him.

I love SOB strings and I will only use them! Dean is a cool dude. Fast enough to get my orders to me. No complaints from me! They last a long time. I will be checking out the bass strings very soon... I bet they are tops as well...

Thx guys. I ended up buying 30 sets from Dean...15 of the vintage/nickel electrics and 5 of the phosphor bronze acoustic. This ought to hold me for a while!

I bought 5 sets last year from him and love them. I've had a set on my LP since a year ago Thanksgiving, and they're still hanging tough!

I do wish he'd either cap the S&H for multiple sets, or just raise the price to $10.00 and have a fixed sum of S&H per order, as $10 S&H for a USPS 1st Class padded envelope w/5 sets stuffed in it seems a little high...
