central NJ here.....my 15 mile commute home was the most terrifying drive I've ever undertaken.

This is a little over two hours in - snowing 3"/hr. and supposed to go till day break. Thankfully it's not as heavy and water laden as Friday's storm. We'll see tomorrow when I get to moving it.

Lost power at my house about 8pm. Hanging out at my brothers place now. What a drive to get here!

Still snowing in NW Connecticut. Projection is that the NW hills will receive upwards of a foot or more of snow, likely tapering off after 2 or 3AM tomorrow morning. Not too much snow to report locally, about 5 or 6 inches, tops at 10PM Wednesday evening...

Here's a look outside my front door...

I looked for a thread about the storm this morning but didn't see it.
My street is a "snow emergency route" because the police station is around the corner.
Had to have any cars off the street last night......before any snow had fell.
Woke up to some light snow, called work.....nobody was there so I blew off work.
Good thing since the snow got bad by the middle of the day.

Storm was pretty much over by 5pm out in the Philly burbs and melting fast.
    Alot of nothing.
When I was a kid we would have had school, unlike my son.
Strap chains on the school bus and be done with it.

Actually, I wasn’t listening to the Police band from around supper time on. I was amazed at how many idiots were still on the road. Too many cars that went off to count. Big rigs on local roads sliding across the road. Plus power lines down on vehicles. Busy night for law enforcement, EMS, and power company people. Hope they’re all safe. Which makes me wonder, do cop cars have AWD? I didn’t think so. They should.

Office closed for the day due to the impending storm. Unimpressive in the morning with just rain but WHOA!... the afternoon and evening came on like gangbusters! But still, because it was slightly above freezing, the visible accumulation didn't look so bad as it was a wet, very compact snow. I knew I would have to eventually drive for a bit and waited until the snowing was suppose to end; around 8pm around here. But nope, it started snowing hard again as I was driving. I know there has been plowing but the snowfall and accumulation was so fast, the roads were awful and packed with slippery snow. Lost control a bit when crossing an intersection going only 20 mph. The snow decided to turn my SUV to the left and let it slide sideways a bit before the tires could finally find the blacktop again and I could steer out. Luckily there were very few cars on the road or I am sure I would have hit someone. Finally made it home. Showered. Sipping whiskey in my jammies is nice.

The heavy snow is great for fun driving!
Went out for coffee and had fun in the van blowing down the road sideways!
Thick snow creates enough drag to help stop.
When it's frozen underneath is when it's tricky.

I'm estimating we had about 20" or so. I did all the snow blowing already, which took almost two hours. I had to get my daughter's car dug out and the driveway cleared, as she leaves for work at 6:00 am, and I have no intention of getting up that early to do the work. All I have to do is clear off the wife's and my car tomorrow.

Welp, time to get up and see what the damage was overnight. And check the highway cams.

I’ll tell you what, having adjoining neighbors may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but having snow removal taken of by our HOA fees sure is nice.

I'm a field technician. I do not get "snow days". At least not in my Boss's eyes. According to him we knew what we were getting into when we took the job so suck it up and drive.
