So anyone here actually like the Vintage 30?

This speaker gets bashed so much Celestion should be given an award for pulling such a con over so many players and amp manufactures that use them. We know that other speakers are cab and amp sensitive, so why don't we at the very least give the Vintage 30 that luxury? It may not be your thing, but I have heard to many great guitar tones with vintage 30's for them to be discounted just because of bad press. In my cab they work great.

Vintage 30, I salute you. :dude

remember just opinions posted and your views may differ. Best bet on speakers is to demo them at a store using the amp or cab you are considering and even better bring your guitar. That will tell you whether it will work well for you or not.

I have a pair in a closed back 2x12 that I'll be yanking out next week in favor of a pair of Scumbacks. The V30's have too much of high-mid/high spike for my tastes. Bass response is great however, but I can't deal with the highs (also the amp is bright, so these speakers with the RIGHT amp might work out just fine). Oh, and also, a former bandmate of mine endorses them, so just on principle, they cannot be in my home.

I just put the V-30s on the bottom since treble is directional and the Greenbacks on the top. Sounds good to me that way. But if you've got a single 212 or a 412 with all V-30s you might want to consider changing a couple of them for something with less of that spike. Then there's your EQ.

My old Egnater amp has V30's in it. Bruce must like them. They sound good to me.

I love them. I would probably use them in any type of amp.

Love them. LOVE. Nothing else cuts thru like a V30 in a hard rock band.

    I use to love them,
    But,
Started to hate the ear fatiguing mid spike.

There was one older Marshall cab I loved that had a set of V30s that were really broken in. Wow, one of the best sounding 4x12s for rock that I ever heard. Very woody and creamy and unlike a typical V30. So I don't mind V30s if they are very well broken in.

I have two V30s in a Fender 2x12 cab that's slightly ported in the back. This cab sounds so good I sold two Marshall 4x12 cabs that didn't sound as good, plus a third 4x12 cab. I have one other really old 4x12 cab that sounds a little better for some things but the V30 2x12 cab is a little brighter and a little more open sounding.

What is the bad info on the V30 that you referred to? I've not read it.

Mine are ten years old, and I am sure that has helped smooth them out. I also find that I like them better in rear loaded cabs.

I hate them...Oops, haven't tried one 'til today. Put a V30 and a G12H30 in a cab and it sounds amazing. Jimi meets Landau. Can't wait to do some recording with it.

I may eventually put a V30 and H30 combo in my Stone Age 2x12 and take out the Heritage M's.

My cab is loaded with 4 v-30's. I keep planning on swapping two of them out, but can't settle on which two? Maybe I just need to take the plung with the G12h30's? Some people seem to swear by this combo.

Jack Zucker does...see his apology to Ed DeGenero.

Me too...I'm on that thread as well.

V30's RULE (in the right cab, and with the right amp).

I LOVE them - have an oversized Mesa Recto 4x12 cab with them, and also an Orange 2x12... both sound awesome. :)

I have one in my Mesa F-30. Sounds good in there but sounds terrible when I play my JCM800 thru it.

I've got them mixed with H30's in my Bogner 4x12's and they sound great especially with my Ecstasy head.
