So are there any good DISTORTION pedals out there?

Not OD. Not boost. Not fuzz. Distortion, preferably in a standard sized box, or even mini, true bypass. Would like to stay under 250 clams.

    Asking for a friend. ; )

OCD can go from slight OD to heavy distortion.

buy any distortion pedal even the ds1. then add an eq pedal. if you need more juice add a boost or a low gain drive for solos etc. i know i lot dont like using an eq but its easier than modding or searching-buying-trying-selling cycle

I have a Wampler SLOstortion that I like quite a bit.

It's VERY versatile, too. You can find those for under $250, I believe.

This is actually another good suggestion. It'll require an additional pedal, but it definitely works well.

    Friedman BE-OD
    Diezel VH4

    Just to name a few....

That said, I always got better results stacking OD pedals.

If the Direct Drive can be considered a distortion pedal then the EQD Talons and Subdecay Super Nova Drive would count too. All three are great sounding pedals - with wide gain ranges. But I'm not at all sure they can be included in a selection of Distortions, though from my experience they can all get into that sort of gain level.

The Kraken OD pedal from victory amps also looks great.

Single coils or humbuckers? What amp? Not all distortion pedals sound good will all guitar/amps.

The kind that is not OD, Fuzz or boost, and cost under 250 bucks or so.

It would be used with Fender style 6V6 amps. Single coils to buckers, but no high output style pups.
