What should I expect ? Will it beat gyro ?
Never had Gyros but it is slightly less synthetic than Mcdonalds. It's okay. It was my first job out of school. It's rebranded "Hungry Jacks" in Australia but it's the same company/franchise. I think the first store opened here in the early 1970s; so it's a pretty common thing for people to eat here. Every country will have their own regionally influenced menus though, so you will have some different items in Greece than we have in OZ. The Whopper is the standard burger and it's pretty good (with cheese). They never look this good in real life though:
I think people will like it because its something new.
No, Burger King will never have anything on their menu that's better than a good gyro
....expect stool softener.
Athens didnt have a Burger king? Now the economic collapse makes a lot more sense...
If you decide to go there frequently, stop by the belt store on your way.
No redeeming qualities.
I have now lived in three places over the last 20 years that have a McDonalds and a Burger King close to each other. I am always amazed by the lack of customers at Burger King. It seems that every time I pass by the McDonalds that the parking lots are full and there are cars in the take out line. Drive by the Burger King and there may be 1 car in the drive through and none in the parking lot. I'm not sure how Burger King has remained in business.
Oh, and the fries are really bad from what I remember.
The ones around here typically have bad service. It's a surprise if they can (a) take your order correctly and (b) deliver it to you accurately.
Try teh Whopper Junior. it's a good little snack that will hold you over until you can get a seat at the Gyro joint!
This thread will be 3 or more pages of fast food hate by lunchtime.
It's a trap, don't do it.
Just doing our bit to spread our epidemic of morbid obesity and diabetes to the rest of the world. You're welcome!
I'm sure there will be some menu, regional expectation, and supply chain differences so chances are BK will be better in Greece than in the States, but BK has been sliding downhill in the States for a while. I would say the food, service and facilities are all worse than before and they fall well behind the other two major national U.S. burger chains (McD's and Wendys) on quality and consistency.
"No redeeming qualities" might be right, they really don't have a standout product that they do great. BK's major marketing ploy always seems to be to change their fries ever few years...from decent to worse to even worse to even more worse (they even had the absolute worst with the discontinued Satisfries).
I had a burger in Athens once. It had a fried egg on top of it. Delicious. Nothing beats a good gyro though.
McD's does big-time market research to determine where to put their new restaraunts. Burger king just waits for the new Mickey D's and opens nearby
Don't wander far from a toilet for an hour after eating .
Burger King will be a huge hit with unadventurous tourists.
Will you be able to buy a Whopper with Feta cheese?
Allow me to ad some right now. Its not food, its mega processed junk. It will leave you feeling like you ate a brick.
You are lucky to have gone this far without them.
If you go there, prepare to be burping the fake "smokey" taste for the rest of the day.
They need a new plan. Just drove by both and McD's=busy. BK not so much.
