I have allways wondered if this is a common scam?......I think the seller knows, or is, the bidder.
could be the losing bidder found a bid bot without a cap (or a ridiculously high one)I think the seller knows, or is, the bidder.
Absolutely. On EBay this has been common since the very beginning. Sadly, it happens more than most people realize. And since EBay's privacy policies seem to work both ways, this scam has only increased.I have allways wondered if this is a common scam?......
Out of curiosity, what is the scam?Absolutely. On EBay this has been common since the very beginning. Sadly, it happens more than most people realize. And since EBay's privacy policies seem to work both ways, this scam has only increased.
Someone lists an item, and then has a buddy bid on it to get some action on the item. If there is a real bidder in the works the buddy bidder just keeps inflating it. If the buddy overbids and crowds out the real buyer by accident, the item just gets relisted.

Hahahah. A whole 5% off MSRP!!!Looks like a steal to me. I think I saw that listed in the emporium for $2000.
It's fairly easy to spot a shill bidder, often there will be a zero feedback bidder running the price up. Then you get an email from the seller with a second chance offer at your highest amount. I absolutely refuse second chance offers, and will not bid on an item with a shill bidder, as the seller is doing some shady stuff. Who knows what you'll end up with.Called Shill bidding...
