Current schematic at the sloclone forum shows the bright cap as mentioned. On a switch as well. I will try it and see if I like it....

Still confused why the ones I owned didn't have it. And they didn't need it, they were bright amps!

Maybe the reason you didn’t bond with the feel of your SLOs was because of the missing bright cap?

No, it was the feel. The slight delay in attack drove me nuts! Lol....
A bright cap would not solve that... And, as I mentioned, my amps were plenty bright.

That's it, the magic and mojo is gone, the not changed in 40 years circuit changed :rotflmao

Seriously though hope your board gets there soon, looking forward to seeing how this one comes out.

Man, I feel real stupid right now. Every SLO I bought used and assumed was stock. My schematics were wrong too with respect to the bright cap. Well, I learned something....
I guess I should have known better after looking at the gut shots of my buddy's Avenger.... Doh!

If you want a 100% accurate SLO schematic, I can send you one.

Is that schematic any different from the one at the SLOclone forum? I'd be surprised if they haven't got it correct by now! :)

That does make me think that I've never looked all that close to the guts of my SLO.

I haven't compared them in a few years, so I don't remember. But the one I have takes any guesswork or doubt out of the equation. I think over on the SLO forum you have to piece it all together from multiple posts/threads/versions/corrections.

I know thst the current SLO has 200uf total on the plates of the power tubes and 100uf on the screens. But, my gut shots show two 220uf's in series for 110uf total on the plates and two 100uf's in series for the screens. When was that upped?

What years are we talking. Things changed over time due to parts availability I'm sure. I think I have gut shots from a 2017 or 2016 amp. And the schematic I sent you is accurate to that.

Thank you! I will follow that except for the power tubes.

The last one I owned was a 2009 I believe.

They have a fairly recent one that's much clearer than the one that's been floating around on the net since the 90's. I do have an actual SLO here, so I just need to get motivated enough to open it up and look around in it.

Tracing a schematic from a circuit is a thing I can certainly do, but it's also a thing that I doubt I'll ever quite get around to. I'm much better at design than layout, and layout than reverse-engineering!

Mine is a 1993, I'll check the next time I have the chassis open. Got some new Sovtek 5881 coin bases I wanna try, so it won't be too long.

Speaking of 5881s, what power tubes are you planning on going with?

Yep, it seems they did change the filtering values. On the old it looks like two 220uf in series. I can't magnify enough to confirm...

Curious. From the photos it appears that you can see the traces clearer on the new one. Does that mean that the board is thinner or just made differently?

Not going with traditional SLO heater wiring?
