I'm pretty excited it was a little painful to stomach the price tag but I use delay so much that it was worth it.

Any tips from a Timeline vet? favorite setting, tweaking tips, etc.

I paid enough for this thing so I want to get the most out of it, anything you can share I'm interested to hear.

Congrats on the Timeline...it's a hands down great and amazing sounding delay. Subscribe to the Timeline settings thread and let the fun begin. The manual really is helpful and video clips on YouTube can help as well. It really is a hands in pedal and just sitting down and.tweaking is just a great way to get unique tones

1. Grab some more money and get a Disaster Area controller (http://disasterareaamps.com/). Got my DMC3XL 3 weeks ago and love it. Doubles the fun and live useability of the Timeline IMHO, especially if you like using the looper. More information in this thread: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/947542

2. Check the pattern delay for reverb sounds, especially with Pattern #15. While not a real reverb, you can get some useable verbish sounds, with the added bonus of "hold footswitch for infinite reverb". Check videos below.

3. In dTape mode, I've found that I don't like the fast tape speed, nor the modulation (called "wow & flutter" ... sounds rather like 80s chorus to me) you get by turning up the Depth knob. I like the stuff the Speed knob adds ("Tape crinkle") much more, but it get's quite extreme quickly. So I normally leave "Depth" fully CCW, "Speed" below 10:00, "Tape Speed" at normal and "Low End" at full cut (-). But this is of course a matter of taste.

I want one sooo freakin' bad! I'm actually considering selling my original Whammy to fund it. Worth it?

Well........didja??

Haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm in that danger zone where if I did sell the whammy I know I'd end up spending the $ on bills (that is if my wife knew). I got it brand new when it came out and it was the first pedal I ever bought so it does have some sentimental value. But I don't use it a whole lot these days. Definitely not to the point that a V couldn't get it done. I use delay like crazy though. I've got 3 on my board right now that I really like (DD-5, AD-9, Carbon Copy) but I hate tweaking live. Plus I want the looper. Its just so damn tempting because I know I could get enough for it to fund the TL and probably the DMC3xl as well.
Ahhhhh! The dilemma!

for me, i tried a DMC-3XL and returned it. i'm probably in the VERY small minority there. i'm usually a tweaker and enjoy figuring out tech stuff, but with all the different colored lights as modes... i just got lost. it would probably take a LOT of practice to get all of the possible functions out of a DMC, but i found myself not taking advantage of the secondary looper functions and i'm okay with stomping on two switches to bank up/down.
